Trans Day of Remembrance

  • Andrews Park Rock Shelter 201 West Daws Street Norman, OK, 73069 United States (map)

The Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) memorializes trans individuals who have died because of transphobia and acts of violence against the trans community. TDOR was inspired by the vigil held for Rita Hester, a trans woman from Allston, MA, who was murdered in 1998.

This year's vigil will be held at the Rock Shelter at Andrews Park, the covered picnic area north of the amphitheater near the parking lot on the west side of the park. This community event is the result of a partnership between Norman Pride, Cleveland County Democratic Party, PFLAG Norman, and OU's Gender & Equality Center.

Please note: Although this is an outdoor event, face masks are strongly encouraged. If you have cold-like symptoms on the day of the event, have recently been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or have not been fully vaccinated, please consider attending the event virtually. Norman Pride will be live streaming the event for those who would rather participate virtually. Click on the source below for more info and updates.
